North Korea Now Airline Detour Zone
Whenever someone asks me how terrorists can manage to stay alive and keep planning attacks, I just point them at North Korea. It isn’t that I think that the dear leader Kim Jong-Il is a terrorists, at least not in the normal term. Rather, that is the world cannot find a way to get dispose of a government and a man who has brought fear to people for 50 years, how the heck do you think they are going to handle some guy hiding in a cave in one of the ‘Stans?
Anyway, Kim is certainly on his way to making it onto the terrorist list. The North Korean government has recently made it clear that airlines should not fly over their country, as they “cannot guarantee security” of aircraft, specifically mentioning the South Korean air traffic. All of this would just fall in the realm of normal saber rattling, if it wasn’t for the belief that the North is about to launch a missile, potentially with the range to reach Alaska. The North has said they are looking to launch a satellite into space, but most observers think that it is just a cover to allow them to set up the missile for testing. These threats against civil aviation suggests that they may be trying to keep their space clear so their launch goes off without problems.
