Katie Couric on CBS News

I spy, with the evil CBS eye… someone who isn’t a man doing the news at CBS.

That’s right, starting today… Katie Couric (will she change it to Kate to be more serious) will be the face and the voice of the CBS evening news, following in the long line that has included Walter Cronkite (who will be there to introduce her, I hear), Bob Schieffer (the interim replacement before Katie) and of course, Mr Dan (what’s the frequency Kenneth?) Rather… who was pushed out the door after running anti-bush material that was more fabricated than Pamela Anderson’s cleavage.

Will this work?  Katie Couric has gone through life as the happy, nice, perky morning show host with the smile and the attidude of happy times, even has her own life has been difficult (her husband died a couple of years back).  She has always got that winning smile and great attitude.  Will she be able to pull of a serious news attitude, or is this the first step for CBS away from “serious news” and more into the interview / talkie style that Fox news and others have put forward, with news being secondary to opinion, interview, and “on the scene” non-reporting?
